Hi everyone,
I searched for a while and I couldn't find this information, so I apologize in advance if this has been asked before.
I am designing a board for a 48-pin device, and this smaller device only has 8 bits of the 32-bit port connected to the device's external pins.
My question: Can I still use that port as a 32-bit port normally, just with the missing bits obviously having no effect? I am assuming I can, I just want to be sure before I finish the design. I want to use it for some non-critical utility functionality, status lights and the like.
In the interest of full information the part is: XS1-L8A-64-TQ48 and the 32-bit port is P32A.
Thanks!

You can, the missing bits on the port are just not connected in this package.
