Just wondering, could I cut those and make a 16x1 array? Otherwise I guess I will have to stick with 16x2....

I'm am not sure, but I think they are cuttable. It looks like they are just the form (not even sure if LEDs come with it).

They can be separated, from reading the comments. They have holes for LEDs, and must be mounted on a PCB with suitable contacts and pads for the LEDs.

I really loved this one out:

http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc ... ts_id=9022

As it has 4x4 buttons and its all ready to go. I wanted 1x16, but heck, 4x4 will do just the same, and it will look great too once the software is running and things are "moving". ;-) :ugeek:

BTW: besides http://www.sparkfun.com - what else should I use? Any other great sites like SparkFun?

Thanks again.

None come to mind currently except for digi-key, although they are more for components. Sparkfun is great: high quality, and great customer service. Great user base too.
