OK Jason what's up with the activity points system?

I don't much care, and don't expect to have enough activity here to win anything but there are prizes at stake so the scoring system should be seen to be fair. However it does not appear so.

So for example from a member I will not name we see this in his profile a couple of mins ago:

Code: Select all

<Name Deleted> statistics
Activity Points: 137 points
Friends and connections : 0
<Name Deleted> has posted in 15 forum topics, is the admin of 0 groups which contain a total of 0 members, and is a member of 1 other groups.
<Name Deleted> has created 0 projects, and is involved in 0 other projects as a contributor.
At the same time from my own profile we see:

Code: Select all

Rowan's statistics
Activity Points: 123 points
Friends and connections : 1
Rowan has posted in 53 forum topics, is the admin of 0 groups which contain a total of 0 members, and is a member of 2 other groups.
Rowan has created 0 projects, and is involved in 0 other projects as a contributor.
Does not add up to me.

Watching how my points have accumulated, you get 2 activity points for every forum post you make and 20 activity points for every project you start.

I think you also get activity points for every group you start and more points for every person who joins your group.

And so I thought, but it does not add up in the example above.

your right, the above example doesn't make much sense. Only thing I can think off is some bonus point scheme for being the first to post in a forum or start a project or group :?

There is a one off bonus of 100 points to people who fill out their profile and upload a profile picture. The rest are points for being a general active member of the community as you have already figured out - forum, groups, projects etc, which will obviously build up over time. Sorry for slight delay in reply, I am not in the office currently as on holiday. Hope that helps though.

Come on, please do not start to fight over a 99$ win.

I'm getting closer to 2^9 points.
I already have the board, but I also have 2 very small, low-latency, "digital" RF-modules.
Low-latency here means that it doesn't create a long cue, and retransmit at lost packages like BT.
With an extra card I can make a low-latency wireless link between 2 cards, and choose myself if it's realtime data, or if it's package data that should be retransmitted if lost.
Also it would be cool to try out the small WiFi (11b) modules for embedded applications like this one http://www.zerogwireless.com/
Probably not the most confused programmer anymore on the XCORE forum.

no one was "fighting" here, people were interested in how the activity points were scored.

I like your idea of a low-latency wireless link between two XK-1 boards

Ti-Ding! > 2^9 Activity points for lilltroll!

Probably by asking 2^7 confused programming questions on the forum.

First to 2^10 should be interesting.
We could make a cool gift for that horse.
At that point we could have a site party.
Exchange gifts idea's make friends.
Your confusion rewards you, lil, keep on
the latency issue. Preprosses is where
XMOS Shines & Sparkles.
