A good idea nonetheless.

I had a meeting yesterday talking about the new competition ideas and we'd like to get users (especially new users) more educated about using the site via the competition too.
This ties in with the Less new projects? post too.

I'll get back to you all when we have a more solid idea.

I like the idea of a "solve the problem" style competition, although I can see it being easily dominated by one or two experienced users.
this is great idea and hope to see it in forum soon (without prize)

Is something new on it's way ?

Maybe it also should emphasize to use code from github.

Beginners can learn by just using and reading the code.
intermediates will maybe find a bug and can report it into the system, even if the cannot fix the bug themself.
"Expert users" can contribute to the code themself.

Making the competion also meningful for the community in the long run. Something that someone else can have a benefit of, in the future.
Probably not the most confused programmer anymore on the XCORE forum.

Yeah we're announcing the revitalised and new competitions tomorrow. Don't worry we've got everything covered for new and expert users.
