XCore Audio Board

Post by ClarkD »

Starting with xCORE Microphone Array, we stripped the DAC side, switched to seven Vesper VM3000 MEMs mic, removed level shifters LEDs, etc. Now we have a three page schematic, a much smaller BOM, etc.

The XUF216-512-TQ128-C20A and XUF216-512-TQ128-I20A are the candidate processors.

Unable to get answers from XMOS, before we build 5000 of these this year, we need answers to two questions, thank you:

1) When buying from a reel/tray do we get empty chips, which require that we use the JTAG to flash each one? Is there any more expedient way than doing each by hand?

2) Why did Digi-Key suddenly add the annotation "Not recommended for new designs"? Is there any roadmap, or guidance we can get?

The lack of response from XMOS is scary. Two of us have tried multiple times over the past few months. Normally we have conversations about the future and our volume need, before we commit. Dunno if this is a common situation.

THANK YOU

1. Yes, we flash each product, but instead of using the header we break it out using the method I posted here:

https://www.xcore.com/viewtopic.php?f=2 ... ect#p35390

An alternative may be to just get the EEPROM programed with your firmware, however in our programming process we use AES encryption so it requires us to use XBURN according to: https://www.xmos.ai/download/XBURN-Comm ... 1482A).pdf

2. I searched both P/N you mention on Digikey and I do not see NRND. Can you link to what you are seeing? Also check Future Electronics.

XMOS has always responded to my questions and I did ask about these chips in the Fall and they have no plans to discontinue.

Thank you RitchRock, much appreciated. The DRND notice was here: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/det ... 16/6005986, but it is gone now.

"XMOS has always responded to my questions and I did ask about these chips in the Fall and they have plans to discontinue." Thank you.

Perhaps you've opened tickets with tech support? The only channel I have tried is "Sales Enquiry." I get automatic confirmations that I have submitted, just no answers.

I believe we are stopping selling the mic array board due to non-XMOS component shortages.
