NC pin nets in example schematics

Post by DrNO »

This may be a dumb question but I'm confused. Using my layout software, when I name a net I usually place the text name near the end of the wire. The example schematics from XMOS.com do the same but there are a lot of NC (I'm assuming No Connect) net names. My assumption was that these pines should be left floating but with the labeling in the schematics it seems like they would all be connected when imported to the board layout window.

So, is the naming in the schematics just to be thorough and these pins AREN'T actually connected in the final board or is there something I'm completely overlooking?

NC is indeed not connected.
I don't know how the tools deal with this since i use different software.
Maybe its a reserved netname.
