Import/Open Design files (Mentor Pads)

Technical discussions related to any XMOS development kit or reference design. Eg XK-1A, sliceKIT, etc.

Import/Open Design files (Mentor Pads)

Post by lilltroll »

I'm trying tom open/import these files
https://www.xmos.com/published/usbaudio2brd
The CAD software used was Mentor Graphics DxDesigner as part of the Mentor Graphics PADS flow (2007.4).

I have never used Mentor Dx before - so I installed the mentor ECAD viever, and I also tried to import the files to Altium design but without any sucess either way.

Can anyone give me some help on the road regarding this?

I had a look at them, and the PCB file seems to be a binary file. They need to be exported from PADS as ASCII files before they can be imported into the Pulsonix software I use, and the same probably applies to Altium. This happened before with some other PCB files, and XMOS provided ASCII versions of them, which I was able to import.

Thanks

I'll try to evaluate Mentor Pads and check it out including a convert.
Have never used it - so then I get a tour as well.
