XS1-G4 144 example hardware design

Post by rp181 »

I was looking at the provided hardware design for this chip:
http://www.xmos.com/published/xs1-g4-14 ... bga-hw.zip
I would like to make a board with this, but I was wondering how to add USB programming functionality like the XC-1A. I see the ports on the schematic, but I do not see the RXD and TXD for the FTDI chip. Do I have to configure it somehow to make it work with USB, and able to boot from flash like the XC-1A?

As far as I know, RXD and TXD on the XC-1A are nothing to do with the boot or JTAG chain which is why they're not on the reference schematic. I believe they're general purpose UART pins that connect to I/O on the XCore - if you look at the FT2232D datasheet, they're connected to a different UART controller (it's a two channel device).

You should be able to follow the XC-1A design with the 144BGA part as long as you change the pinout.
