Linked XMOS Processor IO

Post by rp181 »

I just wanted to make sure before I tried - would anything bad happen if 2 processors have connected IO, and they both output a value? They are all on the same PSU.

If both values are 1 or 0 then absolutely nothing happens, if they output a diferent value then they are going to start heating with a few 10mW more and by that raise its temperature by meaby 0.1 °C.

In short most digital chips can't output enough current to hurt it self when short circuited.

I've blown up some pins on a XMOS L1 due to multiply driven lines :)

I wouldn't recommend to use this by design really.

Well the other side wasn't an XMOS, and problably with stronger source/sink capability.
