I once had a mini-stencil made just for a Telit GE863 GSM/GPS BGA module on a prototype board. The rest of the parts were assembled manually. I've still got the mini-stencil, somewhere.

I received 2 samples of the L2 today.

What do you think Leon, could a stencil, soldering paste and a oven/hot air fasten the device ?

It should be OK. I'll get mine assembled by a company I've used before; It'll only cost me £30 for a couple of them, if I supply a stencil. I get free stencils from my PCB supplier.

You can buy metal stencils, mylar and other plastic material stencils,
and even tapes like this below:
IhUGXEom6IM

and this solution where you keep the tape on the PCB
PRO03Jv3qRo

What would a appropriate thickness be of a common stencil for the L2 device to apply the correct amount of soldering paste ?

If you guys are interested in getting some boards soldered I can help as I have access to the proper equipment. I am however located in California so shipping may cost more than it's worth but I thought I would offer anyway.

@lilltroll, I do make somewhat regular shipments to Sweden to the Gothenburg area so perhaps I could combine shipments which would eliminate the shipping cost.

What type of boards are you designing?

What's the recommended Pad size on the L2 in the given layout?

Altium calculates 0.3x.0.48 but the pads look square (0.3x0.3 I assume) in the images people post.

Thanks.

They are 0.30 mm square.

Shouldn't there be room for a fillet or do these dual row QFNs not need it/not recommend it on the pads?

I played with the layout a bit and was able to escape all pins using:
-2 layer board
-18mil diameter vias with 8mil via holes
-7mil/7mil spacing

Hi All,

I'm looking at using the XS1-L2 for a project I'm working on and was looking for a EAGLE library containing it. I have found a few examples on the forums but all seem to be first passes. I have found a library by Bob Starr (http://www.bobstarr.net), Has any one on here tried it or does any one have a known good part they would be willing to share? (or does anyone know of one in a project or on the forums that I have missed?)
