Replacing Flash on Audio board

Post by xlordofpainx »

Today's question is if the system (xcore-200 Multichannel audio platform) is compatible with a flash memory with more memory. the default one is Memory, Flash, QSPI, 8Mb (4k x 256), SOIC-8(https://www.digikey.com/products/en?key ... LQ080B-JNL) . I was not able to fins this one for order as it is discontinued from digikey, but what digikey has is one with 16Mb(https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/ ... ND/5189767) - same everything. Normally I would expect it to be fine, but the devil is in the detail.

Yes, you will be fine to consider the referenced flash device. Do note the package size for the replacement devices as the width / pitch vary with the suffix of the flash devices. If you have the room, consider to even place a footprint for an alternate size of flash, in case this choice of component becomes EOL in the future.

The list of supported QSPI devices may be found on page 211 of the following document (xTIMEcomposer user guide):

If you believe your IP can fit inside the original IS25LQ080B EOL device from ISSI, consider to contact ISSI (US, factory) for their stock position. They informed us on last contact that they have ample stock in the chain to support XMOS devices:

Either way, it should be possible to update this XMOS supplied QSPI list of devices and add almost any QSPI replacement with the proper definitions. These definitions will then be read by the xflash / libquadflash to configure the new target device(s).

You are quite welcome. Just noted the "Legend" title. In the honor, an off topic history lesson :)

Show always cracked me up.

Classic take ways:

"Woof of Wall Street"

"If a boy can have a dog then why can't a dog have a boy?"

The show that introduced the "Wayback machine".
