This may be a question that could be found in USB spec(s)...I'm wondering if there is a way to access the higher current available on some newer USB interfaces (for example USB3).
Or, perhaps devices that enumerate as USB 2 can only register for up to 500mA regardless of what type of port they are connected-to.
