[SuperNoob] How to start on my project?

Post by mcontour »

Hello Folks,

I think I'm after something simple, but I'm not sure how to start it. I want to implement a microphone array (minimum number of mics) around a TFT display and use DSP processing to "focus" the listening zone in front of the display. The resulting audio would pass over USB to the host computer.

What is the right XMOS silicon to perform the task and how do I get started?

Your recommendation is appreciated.

Thanks.

Michael

Hi Michael
This Product is the right one for you:
https://www.xmos.com/products/voice/vfusion

It uses beamforming on data from a microphone array and "focuses" automatically on the loudest voice signal.
Currently it is still in Beta but soon it will be generally available.
At that time you will be able to buy the kit through one of our distribution partners:
https://www.xmos.com/contact/distributors

On the above page you can file a request for further information using this link:
https://www.xmos.com/secure/xcore-voice-request
After that you should receive automated updates about the product.

Best Regards, Thomas

Thomas,

Thanks for the prompt response. I saw the link you recommend, and that is what got me interested in XMOS.

I'm not actually interested in buying and/or using the kit. What I want to do is take it a step further and embed the silicon into my own circuit design as one feature of a new product. Is there a full data sheet available for the vocalfusion processors?

Regards...

Hi Michael
The datasheet is currently only available for members of the Beta Program

I suggest you file a request for further information using this link:
https://www.xmos.com/secure/xcore-voice-request
After that you should receive automated updates about the product.
Including when it will be available to the general public. This should happen next week.
At that time you'll also be able to download the datahsheet.

Best Regards, /T

@Thomas,

are you sure this email service for beta is working? We have contacted XMOS a number of times to participate on evaluating the voice tools but so far, no follow ups.

We are now under NDA and reviewing Conexant, Micro Semi, Cirrus options for our pending projects. Each claim to be better than the other. Not sure on XMOS. Apparently Amazon has not yet approved multi-microphone solutions for Alexa?
