25 microchips that shook the world

A great read, its amazing to think how far chips have come. IMHO the only chip missing from the list is the 4164 64Kx1 from TI (if I remember correctly). Without that chip 80's home computers would have been so limited or very expensive (thinks about it for a while ... weren't they already limited and expensive :D )

I hope we find the Xmos XS1-G4 on the next list 8-)

Very true, but then again it was compiled by the IEEE. The ARM gets a mention but sadly no Transputer :(

I have not heard of that shaboom! chip.
That's an interesting story. When I learn
a new kernel of truth, ever small. I take
confidence in the source of author and
wonder more the source of inspiration.
And then there is them characters.

good read,
Shawn

What about computers that shook the world instead of chips.
Any Ideas, ATLAS, CDC, DEC, COLOSSUS, ENIAC, ABC...
